Pandemic Poetry: Maybe Someday

We moms have been in a unique position during the pandemic. I think moms were the best prepared for this kind of situation-- we have the stamina and experience from being home with sick kids and taking care of babies. But even moms get tired and weary sometimes. When I can't take anymore, I write a quick poem. Here are some things I'm longing to do again.

Maybe Someday

We will eat dinner
with someone
outside the family
at a restaurant.

I'll wear lipstick
again.

We can watch a movie
in a room of strangers.

I'll see your smile.

Baby showers
and bridal showers
will be in houses.

Parks will open.
Children will play.

I won't be
afraid
of the air
you breathe.

Lines from the original draft.
