Pandemic Poetry: Kris Beaver's "In the Costco Parking Lot Kirkland, WA"

Today I'd like to share my favorite pandemic poem so far. It's called "In the Costco Parking Lot Kirkland, WA," by Kris Beaver.

Written at the front end of the pandemic, this poem records her thoughts as she's preparing to go into Costco. I love the recursive, vivid images of destructive round objects like the horse chestnut, the virus, the mines, and how she turns the horse chestnut into an amulet.

This poem left me feeling very satisfied with its craft and hopeful that the author makes it.
